3 REASONS WHY I LOVE MAMASUKA RUMPUT LAUT PANGGANG

If you’re an avid fan of rumput laut (seaweed) snack raise your hands and also you’re on the right entry because I am going to share to you guys about one of my favorite seaweed snacks on the market right now, and that is Mamasuka Rumput Laut and here I'm also giving my two cents about the product!

To begin with, are you familiar with the product/the brand? Gotta enlighten you all with a little background of this product! The company claims to outsource the seaweed straight from Korea (and freshness guaranteed), they grill the seaweed to get the crunchiness while still keeping it rich in fiber, vitamin and LOW IN CALORIE, short to say, enjoyable and safe for everyone.

Anyway How do you like your seaweed snacks? Light? Crunchy? Uber-crunchy? Salty? For me personally, Mamasuka Rumput Laut has the right combination of elements like flavor and texture, first, they have two variants: Original and Spicy and both shared the same texture: light with a crunch, the original one is salty yet light and even after having packs after packs you don’t get thirsty easily, but if you ask me to name my favorite then it has to be the spicy one as it has more kick of flavor and of course that addicting spicy-savory flavor that will keep you (at least me) wanting back for MORE AND MOREEEEE!!!

Now I am going to share you guys three reasons why I love the Mamasuka Rumput Laut!
1. It’s DELICIOUS, DUH!
Of course, this has to be the main reason to love a product especially from a consumer POV! As what I’ve explained above they have two variants and both are delicious in their own way and cater both preference: who can and can not do spicy food.

This is legit honest, it's so addicting that I didn't realize I actually finished 6 packs in less than 15 minutes while being on my "Netflix and chill" mode, the spicy one can make you crave for water because it's pretty spicy, but that aside, absolutely delicious!
2. You can mix it with your favorite food!
Here’s another terrific thing about this snack, not only that you can munch it right way, the fact is that I can actually have this with some of my favorite comfort food like rice/soup/pasta or anything you want really as one of the condiments and fillings, or as dressing, most importantly for that hint of flavor and texture that could elevate and enhance the dish!
3. Perfect as on-the-go snacks!
I am a snack person and I carry snacks everywhere (usually candies biscuits/jerky beef bites) and have them in my car while being struck by traffic and boredom, or even sometimes when I’m in a coffeeshop! I know I shouldn’t be eating at coffee shops but I can’t help to secretly munch this when I’m actually sitting for hours working of projects (but don’t worry I ALWAYS order the in-house food and beverages I swear!).
So is Mamasuka Rumput Laut snack EATANDTREATS APPROVED? In a way YES! I’m searching for something to dislike about this snack but can’t seem to find one, I mean it’s tasty, it’s salty and it’s simple, just enjoyable at anytime, for those who haven’t tried this before, go get one at your nearest minimarts/supermarkets!

BANBAN TEA - LIPPO MAL PURI

I think it was 2017 where the cheese tea trend started to get really big (even though brands like KOI/Share Tea have started it long way back) and 2018 is just the expansion of the trend with more and more indie brands coming and major brands releasing their cheese tea menus, okay to be completely frank with you I am almost never interested in cheese tea, as personally I don't see why would you put cheese on drinks (and I am fully aware that's just me), but the visit to Ban Ban changed my perception! Keep reading.

I think I first knew about Ban Ban from either Dea (jktfoodbang) or Mullie (myfunfoodiary) and a few days ago I went here with my sister to check out what they have in store. Ban Ban is located at the first floor of Lippo Mal Puri next to Chop Chop, which I think is a totally smart move, I think it's no longer a secret that Chop Chop is one of the most successful restaurants in Jakarta that no longer needs any introduction/promotion and the fact that Ban Ban is located precisely next to it is a stand alone genius marketing promotion HAHA! There were several tables in the cafe where guests can hang around over their drinks, the design of the outlet was neat and simple which fits the theme and concept of this store, simple is expensive *wink*.
Quick scan at their menu and I realize that their drinks are a tad pricier compared to their peers with price ranging from IDR 30k-45k, but I had a good feeling they did it for a reason and for the quality that they're trying to maintain, as for the drinks, most of them are tea based, but there are also the lattes (milk) and coffee drinks! The tea based drinks use premium organic tea, well they try to present premium ingredients for every drink here, literally what you expect from artisan beverages, even the selection of the finest matcha powder and more.
I literally borrowed this for pictures because I wanted to show you guys the fresh and chunky ingredients they're using for their tea drinks! Look at those fresh fruits, while you can adjust the sweetness to your liking, but sugar is not exactly recommended as the sweetness from the fruit should be enough, but again, your preference.
Matcha Chizu and Miruku Boba
HOLY MOLY GUACAMOLE! I was a bit skeptical about this as I thought the milk and bubble combo will bloat me out, but since the recipe was smart and everything was measured smartly, the combo of everything was super tasty! I think I even like this better than the one that I had in Taiwan (Chen San Ding - well I like this one but somehow Ban Ban's matched my palate better). The brown sugar bubble was sweet and caramelized but as you stir everything, they blend in just fine, and the bubble texture is just nicely chewy! FYI this is the only drink with light cream cheese topping, which is perfect knowing you already have full cream milk and bubble here, balance babe!

As for the Matcha Chizu (left), it's also very good! From the first sip and quick peek at their open bar I knew they're using high quality matcha powder here, none of that crappy cheap artificial shit and it did reflect on the taste! I like how the matcha is strong with a hint of bitter.
Creme Brulee made with torched brown sugar
Kiwi Chizu (left), Berry Chizu (right)
The amount of kiwi used for this drink is undoubtably generous! This was very refreshing, genuinely fruity, as for the sweetness you can always adjust, but I'd like to go as low as 25%. One of MY FAVORITES has got to be the Berry Chizu which is also their best selling menu here! It's the blend of strawberry, blueberry and raspberry with their organic tea and cream cheese topping, I prefer very little sugar for this one and more freshness, and seriously even after the cream cheese topping, it didn't bloat me out, it was just fresh on a good balance.
Ringo Fresh Tea
This is their take on fruit tea with generous fruit cuts like apple, strawberry, lime/lemon.
Koffie Chizu and Choco Chizu
As expected, the coffee/chocolate and cream cheese combo makes a good duet, I don't know how to explain it in details, but something about the cream cheese that's perfectly balanced, both flavor and texture wise, creamy and oozin' but not overly thick and greasy, so it really goes well with the fruit, tea, coffee and chocolate.

They also have mochi selections here (each priced at IDR 18k) and I must say they're above decent, the rum raisin mochi is pretty tasty with spot on sweetness, I personally like this better than the black sesame mochi.
You know I don't talk about brands like this a lot...unless I GENUINELY love the brand and what they have in store. That explains my review, it might possibly, for me, one of the absolute best in town when it comes to cheese and tea based drinks.

SO FASHION JAKARTA - MAL TAMAN ANGGREK

This post is going to be a brief review of this newly opened PINK themed cafe called So Fashion in Mal Taman Anggrek that I visited earlier today with my sister! The cafe is located at the 2nd level of MTA and located at what was once McDonald's (ah good old days!), initially didn't plan to visit this cafe (to be frank even forgot that this cafe is in the mall), but we just finished our meeting in MTA and while we were taking the escalator to go down I noticed the cafe, so we paid a short visit here before rushing to another meeting at Central Park!

The So(s) Indonesia are divided into two: So Fashion Cafe and So Hot Stone Hotpot and I heard this cafe is originated from Taiwan, we went to the cafe as that's where all the pink is! the hot pot restaurant honestly gave me this modern yet weird vibe as the restaurant's supposed to be shabu-shabu hot pot restaurant, but it's way too neat and clean for one, but well that's just my two cents, as for the cafe, I enjoyed the vibe of it: it's homey, it's cool and of course...PINK! Brace yourself for some dose of pink coming your way as you scroll!
The pink vending machine is almost Zapangi's dupe, but still, pretty!
Quick scan of their menu and I noticed most of the food menus here are basic comfort food like pastas, ramen, steaks and Instagenic desserts, I feel like they put more attention towards the concept and the deco of the cafe, and that's what they sell which is totally okay, and as for the drinks they serve juices, coffee, tea and blended photogenic house drinks. Price range for the products here starts from IDR 25k-85k, still reasonable for recent cafe standards.

Pink Cafe Latte - IDR 45k
I don't think people go here to find good coffee, flavor wise, this drink was decent, but aesthetically very pleasing! Basically cafe latte with strawberry milk (I guess?) then topped with pink colored whipped cream.
Chicken Parmigiana - IDR 85k
Didn't expect the outcome of my order to be...this, I expected the crispy battered chicken kind with generous parmesan cheese, however appreciate the portion (just perfect for one), the spaghetti was nicely al-dente and the tomato sauce was properly seasoned.
Told ya just a very brief review, I think we stayed less than 30 minutes, can't talk much, but based on my experience coming here: 1. can't deny the cafe's pretty hence people taking OOTD pictures here, 2. products can be improved, 3. the staffs were friendly.
